About This Event
The founder of Blood Drive Ghana, Kwame Adu-Appeah would like to share this:
My mom of blessed memory was born on April 9, 1958. We lost her beautiful soul to breast cancer (twice) & finally a brain tumour.
She was taken care of by a team of seasoned doctors at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and survived a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy within a period of 12 years until Feb 13, 2008 (the day I left her with my dad in her ward at Korle-Bu for school, KNUST because school had reopened). I was playing snooker at Indece Hall that afternoon when I heard the news and still continued my games as though I knew nothing (with tears in my eyes but I smile... I smile like her by the way).
This Saturday, we'd have celebrated her 64th birthday! Over the years, I've struggled with her memorials; some of which I couldn't attend. As part of my healing process, I'd like to invite you to celebrate her birth with me this year onwards to donate blood at the National Blood Service, Korle-Bu and other venue where we can host for convenience and proximity to donors.
Let's be grateful she gave birth to my sister and I with a wonderful then husband, my dad, who turns 70 this year! π€« She fought hard and the fighter she was lives in me. Let us raise our glasses to saving lives! π₯
See you this Saturday!
